RESPER 2.0 contains breaking changes, causing the EC and all EUCARIS Member States to go live with RESPER 2.0 at the same time,
as announced during the TWG and RESPER sessions over the past 2 years.

This go-live is set to take place in the weekend of February 11 – 12th, 2023
The implementation planning is shown in the timelines below.

  • EUCARIS Operations will release the System Updates for RESPER 2.0 on Januari 18th, 2023 (or before) to the acceptance environment (ACC).
Details on the activities for the Acceptance environment

ACC Installation phase

  • All EUCARIS Member States install system update ‘RESPER 2.0’ within 3 weeks.
  • a number of countries, yet to be selected, will test RESPER 2.0 with each other. A fallback scenario will be tested as well.
  • Member State NL will take a RESPER 2.0 test with the EC on behalf of all countries.
    • Why it will not be necessary for the EC to test with all Member States before going live:
      • All EUCARIS traffic between Member States changes from 1.0 to 2.0 format in one weekend.
      • The software/configuration responsible for this switch, is all in the EUCARIS application and not in any Member State component.

The go-live strategy (on the Production environment) consists of two steps.

PRD installation phase (prerequisite )

PRD Installation phase (step 1)

  • EUCARIS Operations will release the System Updates for RESPER 2.0 for the production environment (PRD) on Januari 30th, 2023 (or before).
  • All EUCARIS Member States must install system update ‘RESPER 2.0’ within 2 weeks.
  • This update installs the required new software on EUCARIS platforms but does not yet introduce any RESPER 2.0 traffic.

Situation after step 1:

The Go-Live phase (11-12 february, 2023)

Go-Live phase (step 2)

  • All EUCARIS Member States receive a configuration update ‘RESPER 2.0’ to be applied in the weekend of Februari 11th-12th, 2023.
  • As soon as this update is applied, all traffic between EUCARIS Member States will be in 2.0 format, as well as all traffic from/to EU Hub.
  • No RESPER business traffic is possible during this weekend. Please make sure that your users are informed about this.
  • At EU Hub, all EUCARIS Member States switch from being a ‘1.0’ Member State, to a ‘2.0’ Member State.
  • Each Member State must change locally the URL’s for ‘RESPER 2.0’ communication with EC Hub in the weekend of Februari 11th-12th, 2023.
    • You will receive detailed instructions for this with the release.
  • The EUCARIS Member States will send requests/responses in 2.0 format, and expect to receive 2.0 format traffic from EU Hub.
  • Traffic can be restarted on Monday Februari 13th, 2023.
Please make sure to have your operations team available to fix any problems that might occur.
  • Note 1: Member States that have not installed the system update yet on Monday Februari 13th, 2023, cannot exchange RESPER messages.
  • Note 2: Customized Client Applications and local data services to process request messages, will still be on v1.0.

Details on the activities Local Data Service Phase

Local Data Service phase

  • Member States will have to upgrade their domestic environment (homemade Client apps and local data services) to RESPER 2.0 in 2023,
    as directed by the EC.
  • Before going live with these upgrades, an acceptance test with both EUCARIS Operations and the EC has to be carried out.
  • When going live with an upgraded domestic environment the transformer service in EUCARIS (1.0 <> 2.0) is no longer needed.
