The Licensing Department was established in 1920. It comprises two sections. The administrative section has as its primary aim the facilitation of general law enforcement by maintaining registers of drivers and vehicles and the collection of vehicle taxation. The technical section has as its primary aim the registration and examination of vehicles, the testing of drivers and assisting with road safety matters.
